Duck Creek Watershed Project Scott County, Iowa

For a clean Duck Creek

Pet Waste

As part of the Duck Creek Watershed Project, the Scott County Soil and Water Conservation District is informing pet owners on the impact pet waste has on water quality.

When pet waste is left on the land, rainwater washes it off into storm drains, streams, creeks, lakes and rivers. This causes water quality and human health concerns.

Elements of the Pet Waste Campaign include:

  • Creation of pet waste brochure and distribution of brochures to partners

  • Placement of 15 pet waste stations (signage, bag dispensers and receptacles) along the Duck Creek Parkway
  • Annual distribution of brochures and personal pet waste disposal systems to Duck Creek Parkway Users
